Arcane Season 2 was quite an event again, even in League of Legends. There are new skins, events, and content. A champion is also getting an update, but not everyone is happy about it, as his appearance is changing significantly, affecting the skins as well.
Which champion is it? The champion Viktor plays a central role in Arcane. Compared to his previous story and original design, a lot is changing in the series. Riot is now also using this as a blueprint for a champion update in the next patch, which is expected to be released on December 4, 2024.
His ultimate is being slightly changed, and the major novelty is his design. He is essentially becoming Arcane-Viktor. However, the skins of Viktor will also change. The new design is being received with mixed feelings by the community. Particularly the skin changes are causing some frustration among parts of the community. Some are even demanding refunds.
Many players are dissatisfied with the “new” skins
What is changing with the skins? On YouTube, you can watch the entire Viktor update. It shows that especially the standard Viktor and prototype Viktor are changing. The animations will also be slightly adjusted, making them look smoother than before.
The Death Sworn Viktor will also be significantly changed. Generally, the skins remain true to their respective themes, with slight adjustments. Overall, the champion will appear slightly thinner and smaller. However, many players do not seem to like this; they feel they did not pay for this.
In a reddit thread with over 5000 upvotes, users are expressing their opinions on the topic, even demanding a refund option in this case.
- BigBowser4829:
I didn’t understand what the big deal was when I first saw people mentioning it. Then I looked at the comparison between the new and the old, and I totally get it.
- LampiShu:
The last time they downgraded a skin like the Deathsworn Viktor was Aetherwing Kayle. I’m still mad that they turned one of the best (legendary) skins into one of the worst skins.
- Sivolde:
Wow, I just recently got the Deathsworn skin. This overhaul looks terrible.
Also in the dedicated subreddit for Viktor players, many users are dissatisfied.
Can skins be refunded? In principle, skins (or champions) can be returned in League of Legends. For that, you need a refund token, which you receive in certain cycles, and the purchase must have been made within the last 90 days. However, you will only receive the currency used (RP or blue essences); no money will be refunded.
Riot explicitly states on their website regarding champion updates: We are sorry, but we do not refund items due to champion updates. We try to be transparent when we make significant changes to champions.
Skins and champion designs are always a matter of taste. There are also people who like the new Viktor designs. Regular champion updates ensure that skins change. Another Arcane skin is currently causing a stir in the community: LoL finally releases the Arcane skin of Jinx, but the community refuses to buy it
