In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, a horse is incredibly useful. Your steed Pebbles from the predecessor may not seem like the best choice at first. However, if you bring patience, you will be rewarded with a secret skill.
Why are horses important? Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 offers a vast game world, which is divided into two areas. Those who are on foot here will need significantly more time. It is also much harder to escape from highwaymen and bandits.
It is highly recommended to secure a horse quickly. Fortunately, there is the mare Pebbles, already known to players from the predecessor. The loyal horse is back in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. However, Heinrich quickly loses it at the beginning of the story.
On MeinMMO we show you how to find Pebbles quickly and with little effort. Looking at the horse’s stats, disappointment sets in at first. The stamina is not particularly high, the same goes for the speed or the load that the animal can carry.
Some players quickly look for a better alternative. However, Pebbles has a hidden skill that significantly improves the stats.
Be nice to Pebbles and quickly get a great horse
How to unlock the skill? In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, a bond can be formed between Heinrich and his animal companions. This applies to the dog Köter as well as Pebbles. To improve the bond, ride long enough with the horse through medieval Bohemia and generously share praise for it.
If you increase the bond high enough, you will unlock a new skill called “Good old Pebbles” in the skills menu. Activate it and Pebbles will receive much better stats.
For comparison: Pebbles’ stamina is 139 by default. With the skill, it is 222. The load the horse can carry changes from 158 to 358. And the speed increases from 30 to 53.
These stats reshuffle the cards and suddenly make Pebbles a convincing companion on Heinrich’s adventures. Apart from the raw numbers, Pebbles is simply lovable, and Heinrich is emotionally tied to her.
Is this only true for Pebbles? There is another horse named Hering that you encounter during the main quest. This animal also has a skill that will be unlocked after a while and provides a similar improvement to that of Pebbles.
What does the community think? On TikTok, the user norzzatv demonstrated how to improve both horses. In the comments, several Pebbles fans congregate, as well as those who struggle with guilt:

No matter which horse you ultimately decide on, always remember that Pebbles has been with you since part 1. The initially clunky mare becomes a really good horse thanks to an intense bond.
