Now begins the great wait for fans of Jujutsu Kaisen, as the first part of the massacre games has ended in the anime. There is still no release date for season 4. But the grand finale makes up for it.
How well is the episode received? On the rating platform IMDb episode 12 of season 3 of the anime receives an almost perfect rating. The episode currently stands at 9.9 out of 10 possible stars with over 32,000 votes cast.
This makes episode 12 the best episode of the entire season 3. In second place is episode 4, in which Maki executes her entire clan. This episode received a rating of 9.7 at that time.
Overall, the ratings for the episodes of season 3 are good. Even the lowest-rated episode receives a moderate score of 7.8, and that’s only because in this episode the rules of the massacre games are explained.
Finale of Season 3 receives an almost perfect rating
Why is it so praised? The animation is particularly well received again. The fluid camera movements during the fights are said to be masterful and are regarded as the absolute highlight of the season.
Particularly nice is the fact that one of the iconic moments from the manga has exceeded fan expectations. Here, three powerful Jujutsu sorcerers simultaneously use their domain expansion. Although it is a chaotic situation, the sound design was said to be solid.
The fact that Yuta Okkotsu appears in the episode is likely to have contributed to its popularity. He is one of the most popular characters in the series (see the Jujutsu Kaisen Wiki and on Reddit) and has only been seen since season 3 of the anime, apart from the movie.
What happened in the episode? Yuta Okkotsu finally takes action in the massacre games. He is in the Sendai colony, where he directly kills two heavyweights, drawing the attention of two other extremely powerful beings:
- Takako Uro is a former assassin who can distort and manipulate the room like a canvas
- Ryu Ishigori is a reincarnated sorcerer who fires cursed energy explosions from his hair
Between the three parties, an unrelenting battle ensues. Yuta must evade Ryu’s devastating energy blasts while simultaneously defending against Uro’s treacherous spatial distortions. The conflict culminated in the aforementioned triple domain expansion.
