Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has released a new roadmap with content for the release of the new CoD installment. In it, there are some hints at a “classified Warzone experience” hidden. It seems like we will soon return to CoD Warzone in Black Ops (1).
What kind of map is this? It seems that the new map for the Battle Royale Warzone will be Rebirth Island. This is an island that was used in real life by the Soviets as a testing ground for biological weapons and weaponizable pathogens.
The island was already featured in Black Ops 1, where it served as the mission location “Rebirth.” Veterans of the game may already know it. It consists of many houses but also vast areas intended to simulate an urban and rural environment for weapons tests. We have embedded a video of the mission and the map here for you:
Where does the info come from? The map was teased in the latest roadmap for Cold War with the simple description “classified Warzone experience.” There is a partially redacted text where “…eniya Island” and “Aral Sea” can be found.
This clearly points to Vozrozhdeniya Island, the Russian name for the island. It is also indicated that the text describes various symptoms of possible biological weapons.
Rebirth Island – New Warzone map likely comes from Black Ops 1
How will the map work? Anyone familiar with the story of Black Ops knows that among other things, the substance Nova 6 was tested there. This is a deadly weapon that, according to information, has quite serious effects:
- resembles a nerve agent
- spasmodic coughing
- vomiting
- severe reaction of the eyes
- immediate onset of symptoms
- inevitably leads to death
This sounds like a wave of Nova 6 could replace the gas circle from Warzone and cause the play area to shrink further.
Since Rebirth Island plays in Black Ops and not in Modern Warfare, there are several further possibilities for content open, such as different weapons. Whether we will find the weapons and gadgets from Cold War or from Modern Warfare on Rebirth Island is still uncertain.
When will the map be released? The new content has been announced for the Season 1 of Cold War which is set to start on December 10. However, whether it will actually be a new map or if the story will continue to unfold in Verdansk is still not 100% certain.
The wording is too vague regarding this. It may also somehow relate to a Warzone leak that hinted at the Blackout DLC map Alcatraz.
The preload for Cold War actually starts today, November 6. The release of the new installment is then on Friday, November 13. Shortly thereafter, you can look forward to a new map in Cold War: The cult map Nuketown will even be released in November and is a guarantee for fast action.
