Collecting tier sets in World of Warcraft is becoming even easier. The catalyst can be farmed in Midnight.
In the past, tier set items were only available from the raids of World of Warcraft. Now they can be obtained from many different sources, including the catalyst. However, when using the catalyst, players often faced a difficult decision that could render items useless for weeks.
This changes with Midnight, as you can use the catalyst without hesitation, because they can be farmed.
What was the problem? A source for tier set pieces is the so-called catalyst, in its latest form. In the catalyst, you can convert loot from all kinds of current content to obtain tier set items. However, the catalyst charges up only slowly – usually one every two weeks. This leads to a dilemma:
If you only had one item left to convert for the 4-piece set bonus, such as a helm, it often happened that you only had a rather weak item – perhaps at the “Adventurer” or “Champion” level. It was foreseeable that soon you might get an item of the Hero or Mythic level. This led to a dilemma:
- Should you convert the “bad” item into a set piece to get the strong 4-piece set bonus?
- Or should you wait for a better item and therefore temporarily forgo the strong set bonus?
A decision for which there was no clear answer and which often led to frustration.
Catalyst charges can drop in WoW Midnight
What exactly is changing? Once you have unlocked the 4-piece set bonus on a character in Midnight, that character will receive a special achievement. This achievement ensures that from that point on, charges for the catalyst become available from various sources. They can drop from the following activities:
- Raid bosses
- Mythic+
- Rich depths
- Rated PvP
What does this change? The change means that you no longer have to hesitate for long to convert an item into a tier set piece. Even if it is foreseeable that you will receive better equipment shortly, you can relatively confidently carry out the conversion as long as you have unlocked the 4-piece set bonus at least once.
A nice side effect: With the additional charges, you can also convert other equipment pieces into set pieces that do not grant a set bonus (i.e., everything except helm, shoulders, chest, pants, and gloves), allowing you to gather the basis for the whole set much faster.
This should be another reason to look forward to the upcoming expansion Midnight.
