The Unsplit Chaos
Anyone who cannot decide which god to serve or does not like the gifts of the individual gods can serve the undivided Chaos or the “nameless god”.
Followers of the undivided Chaos simply worship the entirety of Chaos and serve the entire pantheon of the dark gods. Those who worship undivided Chaos may indeed receive gifts from all gods, but never as extensively as true followers.
However, champions of undivided Chaos can rise to such power that they become the mightiest among the mortal Chaos Lords. The last known of these “Everchosen” in Warhammer Fantasy is Archavon, who destroyed the world and thereby ushered in the Age of Sigmar.
Among the most well-known worshippers of undivided Chaos are the Word Bearers and Night Lords in Warhammer 40,000 and the demon prince Be’lakor in Warhammer Fantasy.
If you still want to dedicate yourself to a Chaos god, you can find here the Chaos gods in the power ranking.
Lesser Chaos Gods and the Goddess T’au
Chaos and the Warp offer many more entities than just the great gods. Numerous lesser gods are only worshipped sporadically, yet still have the power to grant their followers special gifts. Some of the most well-known lesser gods are:
- Hashut, the god of hatred, fire, and tyranny, who is worshipped exclusively by Chaos dwarves. The “Father of Darkness” allows the dwarves to wield magic (which they otherwise cannot) and has caused them to mutate into strange creatures like bull-centaurs.
- Vashtorr, who strives to become the fifth Great Chaos god in Warhammer 40,000. He rules over the forges of souls and has a special expertise in handling weapons. His scream can cause error codes in electronic devices.
- Malal, or Malice, who hates all other Chaos gods. Malal’s followers strive for anarchy and disorder and are infused with hatred for everything – including themselves.
The newest entity in Chaos is also the Goddess T’au, who exists solely for the star realm of T’au – even though the people are not psychically active. The goddess only came into being through the faith of the supporting peoples of T’au.
As T’au is supposed to embody the “Greater Good”, it stands to reason that she is the only benevolent Chaos goddess. However, there isn’t much information available yet on how her worship and gifts look.
Another, fifth Chaos god has been suspected for some time: the “Dark King”, prophesied by both humans and Aeldari. It is now suspected that this god is the Emperor, who ascended to an unparalleled Chaos power during the Horus Heresy. So far, he has not fully become the Dark King, but many believe that this is inevitable – he has the power to do so: The Emperor from Warhammer 40,000 is only so powerful because thousands of shamans sacrificed themselves in the Stone Age.
