In the MMORPG Elder Scrolls Online, a new trial for groups of 12 players will soon be released, but this time it is not just about high damage.
What have the developers presented? The developers of Elder Scrolls Online recently unveiled their new trial. In the 12-player raid “Bone Cage,” things will be heating up starting June 2, 2025. The new trial takes players into a horrific part of the Coldharbour, as writer-designer Helena Wachhaus explains.
She describes the new area on ElderScrollsOnline.com as follows: “It is a torture chamber, shaped from the bodies of those who lost their lives here. A bone crypt, littered with skeletons, disfigured beyond recognition and deformed by their eternal torments. Truly, not a cheerful place.” Players can expect undead enemies, villains, and tough challenges.
As a special feature, this trial is not just focused on high damage numbers, but particularly on teamwork. If you and your teammates are not careful, you will fail.

Teamwork instead of DPS Check
What makes the trial different? Instead of just the enemies typically fighting against you, the environment also turns against you in the trial. There is a defense mechanism that blocks your path with magic. To stop the channelers who summon the barriers, you must find a way to them.
Teleportation platforms are available for this, but they have been manipulated to harm you, which weakens you for the fight against the channelers.
The enemies in the trial also demand teamwork from you. The “horrific abductor” is an example of this. He waits for his chance to kidnap an isolated group member. If this happens to you, everyone must come together to rescue them, as you stand no chance against the villain alone.
What rewards await upon victory? If you succeed in completing the new trial, you can look forward to loot along with some achievements. The developers reward the conquerors with a new mount, the Heartbreak Whelk, as well as new weapons and armor, which trigger additional damage on area damage.
With the new trial from Elder Scrolls Online, it’s clearly about more than just damage, and the “horrific abductor” additionally ensures that solo efforts are punished. The new trial is part of the first part of the Worm Cult season, which belongs to the new content pass of the MMORPG.
