MeinMMO editor Caro has chosen a new miniature project, but this time, to her surprise, it is not a Tyranid, but a model from Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Just the look has convinced her, and it is only now that she realizes what kind of candidate she has taken on.
It’s that time again – a new miniature has caught my eye and I can hardly wait to get started. In fact, my current treasure is not a Tyranid, but a creature from another Warhammer universe. I recently became aware of the miniatures from Age of Sigmar and knew that I should probably look beyond my beloved Tyranids.
I have done just that… and I have become a proud owner of a Sludgeraker that I had to adopt during my last visit to the local Warhammer store.
Love at first sight, but then came the second
The Sludgeraker Beast has captivated me because I am a big fan of monsters and creatures. I really like its armor and helmet, I love the fantasy vibe, and one of the two possible variants from the box has an underbite with a tongue hanging out to the side, like a puppy.Â
I quickly grew fond of the creature. The last time a miniature could evoke that in me was when I discovered my Tyranid swarm.
Well, he can now look forward to a new friend. (It’s exciting to think about what would happen if a Tyranid met a Sludgeraker Beast. But I’m digressing.)

Now that I hold the box in my hands and think about what color to give my newest pet, I wanted to take a look at what kind of creature it really is… and I am grateful that a miniature really only smells like plastic.
Sludgeraker Beasts make perfect companions in battle
Sludgeraker Beasts are swamp-dwelling carnivores that always have to pay attention to the wind direction while hunting. They have such a terrible stench that any smelling creature would detect them immediately.Â
However, their smell is just one thing. A toxic, equally horribly stinky secretion flows from their belly, which particularly benefits a certain army.
The creatures have found a rider in the mighty Snatchabosses of the Kruleboyz, who have captured and tamed them as mounts and personal fighting machines. Together, the two become a strong team.
Either the Sludgeraker tears its opponents apart with its claws, or the Snatchaboss pulls an opponent out of the fray and stuffs them into one of the cages that its companion carries on its back.
But what is the secretion of the beast useful for? Well, the Kruleboyz rub their weapons on the belly of the Beast to soak them in the stinking and especially toxic secretion. This way, their weapons inflict even more unpleasant poison damage on their opponents.
Since I now own my own, fortunately not smelly, Sludgeraker Beast, I find these insights wild, but that doesn’t diminish the fact that the little one is still just charming to me. As soon as I can, I will assemble and paint it!
Have you revealed your favorite army in Warhammer because a certain model enchanted you? And have you perhaps painted a Sludgeraker yourself? Let me know in the comments! You can see the result of my previous Warhammer project here: I worked for two months to paint my Tyranid from Warhammer 40,000Â
