MeinMMO editor and miniature fan Caro is currently trying to decide on her next Warhammer figure. It should be an easy choice for her, had she not stumbled upon another universe whose minis blew her away.
I recently received a Warhammer voucher from a friend, which left me with a wonderfully clear conscience: Well, now I’ll just have to use it, unfortunately!
There are a few miniatures I’ve had my eye on anyway, first and foremost – my babies – the Tyranids.
How much I like Tyranids has already been described in detail multiple times and I have finished building and painting my first candidate, Norm (my Norn Emissary).
For that reason, I actually have my eye on the Parasite of Mortrex for my next miniature, as it has captured my interest for quite a while.
However, I currently find myself quite conflicted. While browsing the wonderfully vast selection of miniatures, I have… slipped away. For the first time, far from the universe of Warhammer 40,000. And now I had to realize with annoyance: Why didn’t I notice the awesome miniatures of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar earlier?!
As a D&D and creature enthusiast, I was surprised by what I had missed
Since I don’t play Warhammer myself, but am (so far) only interested in painting the miniatures, I chose my favorites purely based on looks, design, and coolness or cuteness.
Space Marines or tanks are not really my thing. Moreover, I love creatures, monsters, and similar beings, whether from the fantasy, sci-fi, or horror genres. That’s why I fell in love and dedicated myself to the Tyranids, who have eaten themselves into my heart.
But when I accidentally glanced beyond the horizon named 40,000 and came across Age of Sigmar, I realized how much I had missed.
Krethusa, Royal Terrorgheists, the Mindstealer Sphiranx, the Sludgeraker Beast, and generally everything that crawled out of Slaanesh’s holes. But that’s just the beginning of my list. I can’t get enough of it!
Age of Sigmar makes my D&D heart happy
I have no clue what is going on in Age of Sigmar. But if such miniatures are waiting for me, I must give the universe a chance.
I still love Tyranids; first loves never die. But I am ready to take off my blinders.
Since my miniatures will primarily be used for Dungeons & Dragons, Age of Sigmar is much more exciting than the sci-fi vibe of Warhammer 40,000. Everything has more of a dark fantasy vibe than aliens and Space Marines, which is why I will most likely “cheat” in the other corner of the Warhammer store in the future.
