In about 3 months, one of the big events in Pokémon GO will take place. MeinMMO author Paul Kutzner is already making preparations.
In addition to many smaller events, there are mainly 3 big events that occur every year in Pokémon GO. This includes the GO Fest. The global variant of 2026 will take place on July 11 and 12, 2026.
So even though there are still about 3 months until the event, I am already making preparations to be optimally ready for it. And there is a good reason for that – hope.
Hope for very special attackers
What am I already collecting now? Primarily, my preparation consists of one thing: collecting coins. While I am not usually very diligent in conquering gyms to earn the 50 daily coins, that is changing now.
Why am I collecting them? Last month, there were the first details about GO Fest 2026. This included a video featuring Mewtwo, as well as merchandise for the GO Fest that not only shows the monster but also features the symbol of Mega Evolutions in the background.
This not only gives many trainers in the community hope that we will finally see the release of the two Mega Evolutions at GO Fest 2026, but it also gives me hope. Additionally, it would also nicely coincide with the 10th anniversary of the game.
And to be prepared for this very case, I am already hoarding coins. Since it is not guaranteed to receive the 50 coins daily in my area, I try to gather as many as possible.
What do I need the coins for? The coins are meant so that I can stock up on some Remote Raid Passes. Since it is not always easy to find sufficiently large raid groups here, I want to be prepared when I have to rely on remote raids.
Moreover, if we receive the Mega Evolutions at GO Fest, it is not clear in what form they will appear. If Link charges are needed for this, I will need coins for that as well.
How many raids are necessary? How many raids will be needed for the required energy for a Mega Evolution can only be speculated at this point. However, when thinking of the Fusion Energy of Kyurem or Necrozma, as well as the energy of Zamazenta and Zacian for a form change, several raids might be necessary to gather enough energy for Mewtwo.
If the two forms of Mewtwo finally appear at GO Fest 2026, I hope to be well prepared. And I can only recommend to you: be prepared as well.
