Jason Vorhees will be the next terrifying killer in Dead by Daylight. We now also know his abilities.
Horror movies have an immense appeal, and hardly anyone is free from having seen one or another film a bit too early – whether secretly alone, with friends, or with parental permission. For many, it was surely the slasher horror film “Friday the 13th” from 1980, in which the cruel murderer Jason Vorhees hunts a group of teenagers.
The film is considered a pioneer of modern slasher films alongside “Halloween” and is regarded as an absolute classic.
Little surprising then, that Jason is finally making his way into Dead by Daylight. We now know what abilities the gruesome killer will have and how he will terrorize the survivors with them.

Jason’s Abilities
Jason has two abilities that are also meant to represent his talents from the films.
The Ubiquitous Evil: The first ability is a special form of invisibility. Jason cannot be perceived by the survivors, nor can they see him. He can still see scratch marks and can recognize survivors who are interacting with generators as weak killer instinct. However, Jason cannot turn off invisibility everywhere. He must be near objects he can interact with – such as a destructible wall, a pallet, or a window. This is likely to cause quite a jump scare.
Piercing Throw: Jason’s second ability reflects his brutality from the films. He is capable of picking up shattered objects scattered at various points on the map. These can be remnants of pallets or even hooks for victims. This allows him to prepare the throw of a projectile. The projectile causes damage but can do even more, as it has enough force to hurl a survivor forcefully in one direction.
If the projectile hits an already injured survivor and this survivor is slammed against a wall, the survivor is left helplessly impaled on the wall, allowing Jason to simply pick him up and carry him on the hook.
These are Jason’s Perks: Like all killers, Jason comes with three unique perks that only he can use at the start. As usual, they can later be unlocked through the prestige system, allowing all other killers to benefit from the perks.
His 3 perks are not yet known and will be updated as soon as they become available.
When does Jason arrive? Jason’s release is planned for June 16, 2026, which is in almost exactly 3 weeks. Anyone who wants to get a free impression of Jason until then can simply install the PTB version (test server) of Dead by Daylight on PC and try out the killer before it goes live. Usually, there are also a few balancing changes during this time, so details may still change.
