NCSoft and ArenaNet have not yet released much information about Guild Wars 3. However, we will summarize all the information that is already known here.
- Guild Wars 3 is currently in active development and does not have a release date yet, but there is a time frame for when the first beta should start: Fall 2027
- For the first time, the series will give up its PC exclusivity, as the MMORPG will also be released for PS5. All Xbox fans will presumably miss out and will not be considered.

- The combat system and movement are expected to be smoother and more modern.
- The story takes place 1,200 years before Guild Wars 1 to usher in a new era and illuminate parts of the story that could not be addressed in the two sequels.

Additionally, it wouldn’t hurt to add the game to your wishlist on Steam or in the PlayStation Store – this way you won’t miss any important news about it.

Guild Wars 3: Everything about Story, Classes, and Races
What time period does Guild Wars 3 take place? Part 3 is a prequel in the series, as this game takes place 1,200 years before the events of Guild Wars 1. Game Director Colin Johanson explained that they deliberately chose this epoch to illuminate an era when the six human gods still actively walked the world and the magical “Great Guild Wars” were just about to break out.
This decision in the development of the MMORPG aims to ensure that you do not have to catch up on 20 years of lore from Parts 1 and 2. Instead, everyone starts their journey through Orr as a newcomer and can get to know the universe without hurdles.
As a player, you will join the Vaelwächtern, an order dedicated to protecting Orr. You will work together with other warriors and travelers to save the living beings and spirits from the surrounding area.
Is there information about the classes? No. NCSoft has not released any details regarding this issue yet. However, classes that we know from the predecessors might be possible, such as warriors, rangers, or elementalists.
However, since the developers are taking a modern direction, it is also possible that they will rename or even completely redesign the classes.
What is known about the races of Tyria? In fact, there are currently only speculations regarding this question. However, through trailers and concept art, it can be inferred that you might be able to play the following races at release and during the beta:
- Humans
- Kodan
- Norn & Dwarves
- Asura
- Tengu
Guild Wars 3: Everything about Price, Pre-order & Monetization
Is there information about the price? No, there is currently no price. We will update this part as soon as there is news regarding this.
Can you pre-order Guild Wars 3? Without a price, there can be no pre-order. No, you cannot pre-order the MMORPG yet.
How will the MMORPG be monetized? There is already some good news regarding this. The studio wants to stick to its previous strategy. Guild Wars 3 will fully focus on buy-to-play like its predecessors – there will be no mandatory subscription model, as seen with World of Warcraft. So you pay once for the game and possibly future expansions and can log in whenever you feel like it.
In addition, the developers have given a clear “no” regarding battle passes. However, cosmetic items will be offered in a shop at “fair” prices. How the shop will look at launch and whether we will get a glimpse of it during the beta is still unknown.
Guild Wars 3: What will happen to Guild Wars 2 & Reforged?
One of the most important questions for veterans of the game is what will happen to Guild Wars 2 and Reforged. Will both be discontinued or perhaps placed in maintenance mode? None of that! Both titles are still set to receive content and support in the future. However, it is clear that the team is currently fully focused on the development of Part 3.
For this reason, Guild Wars 2 will not receive any new expansions for now – so you will have to prepare for that. Reforged, on the other hand, is taking a different direction in development. The remake of Part 1 has attracted many players on the Steam Deck, which is why they are now working on a mobile version. You can find out more in our summary: Despite Guild Wars 3: Predecessors will continue to receive content, but one thing players will have to forgo for now
