Many players wonder if there is crossplay for GTA Online. For example, you could play with your friends on PS4 while playing on PC yourself. Here we show you where crossplay is possible in GTA Online and where it is not.
Crossplay in GTA Online explained
We will go into each possible combination below and show you if cross-platform play works there.
Crossplay between PS4/PS5 and PC
Is this possible? No, there is no crossplay between PC and PlayStation (PS4 and PS5). You cannot play together.
Crossplay between PS4/PS5 and Xbox
Is this possible? No, you cannot play with Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S on PS4 or PS5. Crossplay between the different consoles is not active.
However, the console generations can play among themselves. So crossplay between PS4 and PS5 is possible. Likewise, crossplay between Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S is possible.
But there are exceptions here as well. Those playing the Enhanced version cannot play with players of the old version. You can bypass this by playing the PS4 version of GTA Online on PS5, allowing you to play with PS4 players.
Crossplay between Xbox and PC
Is this possible? No, Xbox players cannot play together with PC players in GTA Online crossplay. The combination between console and PC is also not available here.
Crossplay between Steam, Epic Games, and Social Club (Rockstar Launcher)
Is this possible? Yes, there is the possibility here. On PC, all players can play among themselves.
All players from the Epic Games Store, Rockstar Launcher, and Steam can play together in crossplay. You will be connected on PC via the Social Club. Here you can add each other as friends and join each other’s game sessions.
Will there be crossplay between PlayStation/Xbox and PC or Xbox and PlayStation?
Current status: So far, there have been no official statements that GTA Online wants to expand its crossplay. While the developers are often full of surprises, it is rather unlikely (but not impossible) that a game from 2013 will overhaul everything again. The upcoming release of GTA 6 makes a crossplay update rather unlikely.
