Today marks the start of the new heist in GTA Online, which also piqued the curiosity of MeinMMO editor Caro, drawing her back into the game after years. Unfortunately, she was surprised by the dismal realization that no one wants to hear: She is too poor to join in.
As I am already very much looking forward to the release of GTA 6 and recently decided to dive back into the predecessor, it was now GTA 5 Online’s turn. The last time I played in online mode was during my school years. I wasn’t particularly good, owned no flashy things, but I had an incredible amount of fun causing chaos.
With a new update launching the Kortz Center Heist in GTA Online today, I took a few hours over the weekend to return to Los Santos. An art heist with fancy paintings sounds just super exciting and tempting.
In full excitement, I hit the streets after my character also received a makeover that a 26-year-old Caro would like and not teenager Caro. Not because I was eager for violence, but because I needed to train my driving skills again.
After a short while, it was finally time for me to buy a villa, which is required for the art studio and thus also for the new heist. Until now, I only owned an apartment but thought to myself: “Hey, there’s still 2 million dollars in the account, there must be something decent in it.”
But then I stared wide-eyed at my display, more precisely at a number in the 8-digit range: 11 million dollars for a villa … I’m just too poor for the heist.Â
Too Poor for the Villa, Too Poor for the Heist
I simply did not expect that every villa in GTA Online would be so expensive. But at that moment, I unfortunately had to realize: This will not go well with the timely entry into the heist.
I immediately started researching whether I could somehow earn the missing 9 million dollars in time, but this turned out to be rather … difficult as a casual player and with the gaping hole of certainly 8 years of gameplay.
I had to admit to myself: My preparation was really not good.
But the Situation Isn’t That Bad
After a few moments, however, my disappointment was quickly buried. As I pondered how to quickly raise the required money, I became aware of how much I had missed in GTA Online all this time – or rather, how much I can still catch up on!
The Kortz Center Heist is indeed the newest and somehow the most interesting robbery for me personally, but GTA Online has more to offer, such as the Cayo Perico Heist, the Diamond Casino Heist, or the Cluckin’ Bell Heist.
Instead of a new robbery, the new update not only drew me back into GTA Online with a new experience, but much more: hours of replaying all the cool content that I get to experience for the first time. And for that, I am very grateful to the new update – even if I do feel a bit like a poor noodle.
