Erik “Gronkh” Range is one of the biggest streamers on German Twitch. A deal for the vampire game V Rising could have earned the streamer a lot of money, but he declined and preferred to play with a little black kitten instead.
What was the deal about? In his stream on May 12, 2024, Gronkh revealed that he had an offer to showcase the survival game V Rising for the previous Friday. It had left early access on May 8, which was accompanied by a hefty price increase.
Gronkh says he could have earned “a lot of money” with a mere two-hour stream of V Rising. However, he declined and instead caused chaos as a cute cat in Little Kitty, Big City. He is indeed a true businessman, Gronkh said with a laugh.

Cat Power instead of Bloodsuckers
Why did Gronkh decline? As Gronkh explains, he was only supposed to showcase V Rising for two hours for the collaboration. That actually sounds like a good deal: a lot of money for relatively little work. However, the Twitch streamer says he had already played V Rising in early access – and two hours simply isn’t enough.
“I think playing V Rising for just two hours is simply not enough. You need to play it for much longer. I didn’t want to show you two hours of a game that you actually had to dive into for much longer.”

How did the cat adventure go for Gronkh? Little Kitty, Big City likely did not mean big money for Gronkh like V Rising had promised. However, he can still consider the evening a success: with an average of 21,449 concurrent viewers, the stream was the second strongest for Gronkh in the last 30 days (via SullyGnome).
As one of the biggest German Twitch streamers, he can probably afford to pass on the declined deal as well. One reason for this ongoing success might also be that Gronkh prioritizes his fans’ viewing experience over quick money from a deal.
Fans of Gronkh likely don’t have to worry about his financial security: the streamer has accepted a deal to showcase the upcoming major update of Destiny 2, The Final Shape, in advance.
Meanwhile, V Rising was able to make a strong start even without Gronkh’s support. The vampire game climbed the Steam charts and posed strong competition to several genre counterparts. However, one perennial survival favorite slightly edged it out. Only Rust is bigger: Survival game with vampires has 132,000 players on Steam, ranking 2nd in the genre.
