Uwe Boll has directed numerous movies in his career as a director. Many of them have gone down in history, although not for a positive reason. Now a new attempt follows.
What is Uwe Boll planning? In an interview with LRM Online, director Uwe Boll talks about his future plans. Boll states that video game adaptations are the new comic book adaptations today, thus fully on trend.
He sees himself as a pioneer and trailblazer of the genre, who was once torn apart by critics for cheap action films, while his movies like House of the Dead enjoy cult status today. Therefore, he wants to tackle a new project:
I have regained the rights to “Alone in the Dark,” so I could make another “Alone in the Dark” film, and I am currently working with some producers in Hollywood to get the project off the ground.
He is also completely open to making another installment for Dungeon Siege. However, he would only do this on the condition that Jason Statham returns in the lead role. Although the licenses from game developers have drastically increased in price due to the current boom, Boll makes it clear that he is far from finished with the genre.
He is definitely ready to release more video games in the future. And that could lead to a cult trash film.
Uwe Boll known for catastrophic video game adaptations
What is the director known for? In fact, Uwe Boll has directed several video game adaptations in the past. However, none of these films could really convince the jury, as: None of his video game adaptations managed a score above 9 % from the jury on Rotten Tomatoes.
- Alone in the Dark, which is now set to come as another film, only achieved an empowering score of 1 % in 2005.
- House of the Dead could only gain 2 percentage points more, landing at 3 %.
- The best video game adaptation is “Postal” from 2007. However, it still reached below 9 %.
Other projects like the films for Dungeon Siege and Far Cry unfortunately did not receive enough ratings, so there is no rating for this. But it’s no secret that Uwe Boll’s films are among the worst video game adaptations of all time.
