With the Armageddon Box, there is a new box with two armies to play straight away for the upcoming 11th edition of Warhammer 40,000. Fitting the setting, the Space Marines in the set are exactly the chapter that could almost tend towards Chaos.
The 11th edition of the tabletop for Warhammer 40,000 is on the way, now with an official release window in June 2026. Games Workshop is returning to Armageddon, a planet where some of the worst wars in history took place.
On May 1, the creators finally introduced the Armageddon Box, packed with models to build and paint:
- 23 Space Marines
- 28 Orks
- a booklet with basic rules
- a lore book on Armageddon and “Operation Imperator”
- one mission deck and one campaign deck each
- data sheet cards and a decal sheet for decoration

Particularly exciting will be the Space Marines, as they are – at least according to lore – Blood Angels, one of the original chapters of the Astartes. Blood Angels are the wildest and brutal fighters among the Space Marines, thanks to their Primarch.
Sanguinius carries a flaw within him, which he has passed on to his children: the Red Thirst. This turns Blood Angels into mindless berserkers, who in the worst case can remain in this state and slaughter both friend and foe alike.
The Chapter of the Studious nevertheless forces its way into the spotlight
Although the Blood Angels were meant to be the stars of the 11th edition and the Armageddon set – after all, it is their war – there are hints on the official website as well as in the presentation stream from minute 57:35 that you can of course paint the figures as you like.
As an example, Games Workshop provides a picture of an Ultramarine, the most rule-abiding Space Marines.
Affectionately called “Smurfs”, the Ultramarines are considered the absolute poster boys and often take center stage, receiving most of the new figures, most recently a legendary hero along with his retinue. Even Games Workshop jokes about this and stated in the New Year’s stream: they are legally obliged to show Ultramarines at least once per stream.
In the Grimdank subreddit, which, as the name suggests, mainly posts rather unserious memes, users take exactly this point and comment half-jokingly: not even on Armageddon may the Blood Angels be the poster boys (on Reddit).
A price for the Armageddon Box is still pending. Traditionally, these sets are relatively inexpensive for the number of models and extras you get and are well-suited for entry-level.
