Today, your patience is required again, as Fortnite is receiving a fresh update to version 42.0, bringing not only various innovations to the game but also marking the start of season 4 of chapter 7. However, the servers will be taken down, and you won’t be able to play for a while.

- When are the servers going offline? The servers will go offline on August 20, 2026, at 08:00 AM. About 30 minutes before, matchmaking will be disabled, and you won’t be able to log in.
- When can I play Fortnite again? Currently, there is no estimate on the official status page for how long the servers will be down. However, you should be able to play again around noon.
- When will patch notes be released? Epic Games now only occasionally posts patch notes for updates and usually only after down-time. As soon as they are available, you will read them here.
What contents will there be? The update kicks off the season “Override”. According to leaker @FortniteFNLK (via x.com), the following things are expected to be included in the update:
- Battle Pass, a new map, overall map changes, as well as new and returning weapons for Chapter 7 Season 4
- September Crew Pack, revised item shop tabs, and fresh cosmetic content like bundles, jam tracks, car bodies, kicks, and emotes
- Introduction of numerous sprites, including variations such as garden, ball, dumpster diver, honey, pond, and X-ray, as well as special character sprites like Klombo and Jazz Jackrabbit
- A massive Sonic crossover with skins for Sonic, Super Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, and Dr. Eggman
- Numerous other gaming skins like Joker from Persona 5, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Crash Bandicoot, Mega Man, Dylan Faden from Control, and even Tetris
- New versions of Fortnite originals Geno and color bomber as well as newcomers like The Deer and Hiroshi Jackson
- Possible reworks for the already existing Resident Evil skins and the Polo Prodigy outfit for the Lego mode
- New animal and mechanical companions by your side, including Tails, Morgana, Rush, Pac-Man, and Spyro
- Extensive updates for the Blitz mode and the Reload mode, which will each receive their own new maps and adjusted loot pools
