The developers of Fortnite provide insight into their plans with “Battle Royale.” In a new mode “Creative” players will be able to respawn. Additionally, numerous improvements to gameplay, performance, interface, and controls are planned – especially for PS4 and Xbox One.
Epic lays the cards on the table: Epic has released a major update for Fortnite: Battle Royale, giving us a sneak peek at what’s to come. They address several planned features and improvements that are expected to come to Fortnite in the upcoming weeks or that are already present and have enhanced the game.
This is planned for the limited-time modes
New mode with active respawns: This is how Epic announces the new mode “Creative v1”. Here players will respawn when they die. Players are expected to spend a long time on the map and have fun at their leisure. Additionally, there will be plenty of Llamas. When this will arrive, Epic has yet to reveal.
50vs50 might become permanent: Epic hints that the “50vs50” mode or a similar mode with larger teams may become a permanent fixture in Fortnite. They are aware of how much players love this mode.
Friday launches the limited-time mode “Close Quarters”: This Friday, the new limited-time mode “Close Quarters” will start, focusing on shotguns and jetpacks.
Customizable controller for PS4 and Xbox One
Freely assignable buttons: Epic is also planning advancements in gameplay. They want players on PS4 and Xbox One to be able to customize their buttons freely. Axis inversion for sticks might also be on the table. However, Epic is still unsure when this will be implemented.
Building should improve: For the upcoming update 4.3 next week, they promise enhancements to Turbo Building, where significant improvements are expected. They aim to resolve issues that cause the building to break when toggling traps. Overall, it should become easier to edit buildings while using a controller.
Less loading times, more action
Loading times will be optimized: Epic is continually working to ensure players spend less time on loading screens and land in matches faster. Epic states that with update 3.5, they were able to reduce loading times on PS4 and Xbox One by 15 to 30 seconds. They are working on further optimizations.
Track challenges in-game: With the next patch 4.3, players will be able to see their progress on challenges in-game.
More epic victories: Additionally, Epic is working on making the victory screen more epic.
A mode with respawn creates entirely new options for Fortnite. We have already discussed a variant:
