Map changes

After the live event, there is a completely new map, which is actually quite unusual, as these are usually held back for the release of new chapters. Nevertheless, fans can look forward to exciting new locations. The map is called “The Shattered Coast”.

This is what the new map looks like

The map reveals various biomes to be as diverse as possible. These include both regular and tropical forests, beaches, a desert, autumn as well as winter landscapes. In the center of the map, you will find the Zero Point, which pulses as always and can temporarily strip fans of gravity.

The ghosts are back

In Chapter 6 Season 3, small square creatures were introduced – the ghosts. These gave you, when you picked them up, special bonuses like healing or shields. The feature is now returning and even better than before. In the match, you can extract these little rascals and benefit from their bonuses.

After each successful extraction, you receive ghost dust. With this new currency, you can choose before a match which ghost you want to start your round with. This way, you can gain an advantage over other players. The ghosts also have different rarity levels, and depending on which one you choose, the price of ghost dust becomes more expensive. The available ghosts include:

  • Rare
    • Earth Ghost
      • You have a chance to receive an additional rare item when opening chests
    • Fire Ghost
      • Causes a fiery explosion when you have dealt enough damage to enemies
    • Water Ghost
      • Restores the shield for you and your teammates in the squad when you are in water
  • Epic
    • Duck Ghost
      • Restores shield when you perform an emote
    • Spirit Ghost
      • Makes you invisible when you need to reload
    • Daemon Ghost
      • Drains your shield and life when you eliminate them
    • King Ghost
      • Your pickaxe does more damage
  • Legendary
    • Dream Ghost
      • Grants a random item at every level and explodes at maximum level with legendary loot
    • Funky Sprite
      • Unknown
  • Mythic
    • Zero Point Sprite
      • Spawns a Bubble Jr while you heal

You can also level up ghosts to make them even more powerful. This happens by gaining experience with them, such as opening chests.

New weapons

New weapons are also intended to shape the meta. This time Epic Games presents 4 examples. These include:

  • A assault rifle powered by the energy of the cubes
  • A bullpup-style assault rifle that looks similar to the FAMAS
  • A regular pistol
  • A shotgun with three barrels

It is still not possible to estimate how strong the individual weapons will be in the new season, but Epic Games has always ensured that all new firearms had their justification. So we still have to be patient until the fans form their opinions on this.

As a movement item, there are also Seven Sliders & Shock Rocks.

QUALITY OF LIFE IMPROVEMENTS

  • Festival auras will now trigger on “Victory Royale”.
  • Distance-based transparency: Symbols of audio visualization for shots and steps will now fade out depending on the distance. Threats nearby remain fully visible, while distant symbols become transparent.
  • Reduced range of audio visualization for steps: Steps now appear at a shorter distance on the display than shots since they are a signal for close proximity.
  • “Ground Rush” now available everywhere: “Ground Rush” – the glider mechanic introduced last season for “Zero Build” – is now active in both “Build” and “Zero Build”.
  • “Ground Rush” and re-opening the glider in “Zero Build”: “Ground Rush” is now also activated when the glider is re-opened (not just at the initial jump or jump pads).
  • Aiming (ADS) in the Battle Bus: While riding in the Battle Bus to the match start, you can now aim through the sight (ADS) to get a better overview of the map. This way, you can also more easily mark and ping the landing spot.
  • New controller setting – “Tweak Zone”: The team has created a new way to refine aiming with tiny stick movements that are usually ignored in the controller’s “Dead Zone”. When this option is enabled, these inputs directly move the crosshair instead of rotating the camera. Perfect for precisely aiming a shot at long distances or turning a body hit into a headshot. You can find the “Tweak Zone” aiming options in the controller settings.
  • Tweaked storm timings: The team has changed the timing of the storm circles to optimize gameplay and avoid lengthy end phases. These changes do not apply to competitive or ranked modes.

BUG FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS

General

  • A problem has been fixed where the toggle option between “Build” and “No Build” might not display when entering BR or Reload.

    Mobile devices.

New automatic actions

  • If you are within range, you can now automatically interact with nearby containers, ziplines, and ascenders, as well as revive players who are in a DBNO state (down but not out) just by standing next to them.
    • You can find these options under Settings > Touch and Movement > Automatic Actions.
