Superman is one of the most powerful heroes of all time, but even he can be defeated. This was demonstrated by Batman’s old butler when Superman took down his protg.
Now and then, there are stories where the man of steel is not on the side of the heroes but is actually the villain. This prominently occurs in the Injustice storyline, which was originally based on a fighting game.
To expand this universe, DC also published comics, that showed in detail how Superman actually became the dictator of Earth. Batman naturally opposed him, and other superheroes followed the Dark Knight. To defend against the Kryptonian, Batman researched a super pill.
When Batman was confronted by Superman, butler Alfred intervened and showed Superman how to fight properly.
Butler versus Intruder
No one attacks Alfred’s protg Batman: In 2013, DC launched a comic series of the same name in connection with the fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us that was meant to serve as a prequel. In the first series (Injustice: Gods Among Us: Year One), Batman discovered that Superman and Lex Luthor had developed a pill that could give the user the same strength and endurance as Superman for a short time.
Batman stole the data for this pill (even though two other heroes had to die for it). In the Batcave, Batman developed his own pills, but the man of steel was not pleased. He confronted Batman, attacked him, and broke his back, leaving Batman’s legs paralyzed – this recalls the iconic panel where Bane does exactly that to Batman (via Reddit).
Suddenly, Alfred addresses Superman as Clark Kent and delivers a headbutt with the words: “I am so disappointed in you.” Enhanced by the first synthesized pill, he takes Superman down, grabs Bruce, and flees with him. One of Superman’s most embarrassing defeats.
In this series, there is another encounter between the two. Superman comes to Batman’s villa and wants to know where Bruce is. Alfred doesn’t know and asks the increasingly angry Superman if he still feels his headbutt.

How credible is this defeat? The scene is great fanservice, so that Alfred gets to fight as well. However, looking at the series as a whole, the fight seems quite unrealistic despite the upgrade pill. Alfred would be enhanced, but Superman isn’t easily defeated even with such powers.
Besides, the pills themselves are a rather absurd solution that exists only so the characters (especially in the fighting game) can face off against each other without it seeming illogical why, for instance, Harley Quinn could stand up against Superman.
Since it is also a different universe than the classic one, such a fight has no major impact on the main storylines of the characters.
What do you think about the fight between the two? Do you find it fun or rather unnecessary? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments. Alfred isn’t the only one who could defeat the legendary man of steel; there are also 9 other characters: 10 characters who have defeated Superman in battle
