The players of Neverness to Everness have found hints of the use of artificial intelligence in promotional videos in the game. However, it is not clear.
What kind of game is this? Neverness to Everness is an open-world gacha game set in a supernatural, modern world. It mixes elements from superhero movies with gameplay from GTA, where the characters of your own team can be obtained through random draws.
Here you can watch a trailer for NTE:
AI or no AI
Does NTE use AI? Since its release in the West, fans have repeatedly found signs of AI usage in NTE. A post on X.com is said to show that the video is an AI-generated video:
At the same time, the developers have never said they would completely rule out the use of AI. In a past interview, they simply stated:
“Our core resources and character portraits will never come into contact with AI […] We will primarily use AI to create some atmospheric renderings to see if they convey the desired feeling – as groundwork for searching for references and in the context of numerous trials and errors.”
It could be true that the developers of NTE also let AI work for in-game advertisements or cutscenes during quests, although there has been no confirmation from the developers on this yet.
What do the fans say? The fans do not find the use of AI cool at all and show their annoyance about it. A well-known example game comes from X user hrlynicole, who shows a cutscene that has the typical yellow AI look.
Anime fans, on the other hand, will find an advertisement in the subway for NTE familiar. It is said to be from the anime “Tenki no Ko” and according to Reddit user Meaon_Ria is simply transformed using an AI filter and used as advertising in the game.
At the same time, there are also fans who defend the developers and do not see the use of AI in such side quests and background scenes as that bad.
What do you think? Does AI have no place in any game, or do you find it okay if the developers take shortcuts here and there to make their game more efficient?
