The LoL professional Faker is considered by many to be the best player of the MOBA. However, the Korean professional recently had to admit defeat, and that was against a fan.
What was that event? At a Red Bull branded event, the Korean professionals from T1 faced various opponents. Among them were some streamers, but also fans who got to compete with the professional team in different modes.
As part of the event, fans were allowed to show their skills in a duel with the LoL legend Faker. One player demonstrated that rank really does not matter.

Faker loses to a “noob”
What was that duel like? The fans who were allowed to face Faker did not play a whole match against each other. Instead, the 1-on-1 duel took place as a skillshot duel in “Dr. Mundo Dodgeball”.
Both players played the character “Doctor Mundo” and threw the unchanneled ability “Infected Bone Saw (Q)” at each other. Due to the short distance separating the two opponents, the duel was mainly focused on reaction speed and precision.
For example, one had to predict where the opponent would run next and when to dodge oneself.
How did Faker lose? The duel was extremely chaotic. Both the fan and Faker missed their abilities multiple times and did not hit each other. In the end, the fan barely survived after Faker had misused his ability.
The player facing Faker was by no means a professional; on the contrary: before the match, he stated that he was “Unranked” and therefore had no rank in the competitive mode of League of Legends. Faker was shocked as well when he learned his opponent’s rank, as can be seen at around minute 01:01:30 on sooplive.co.kr.
This could also be the reason for Faker’s defeat. The player moved in an unpredictable manner, causing difficulties for Faker. At the same time, the fan missed several shots and also felt nervous when the supposedly best player in LoL was just barely hanging on to life. In the end, it was not a glorious duel.
For Faker to lose is rather atypical, as the T1 midlaner usually belongs to the winning team, no matter how strong and experienced the opponents are.
