In Crimson Desert the developers turned a bug into a new feature with the latest update, and it is actually quite practical.
What was the bug? The players of Crimson Desert have been enjoying the ability “Jump Thrust” since the release. It inadvertently allowed players to fly into the air by repeatedly using Jump Thrust. This enabled players to soar through the skies using the ability.
Originally, the ability was meant for attacking enemies and was never designed for flying through the air. However, the developers recognized their opportunity and took advantage of it.

From Bug to Feature
How did the developers handle the bug? The developers of Crimson Desert did not simply remove the bug. They recognized their opportunity and enhanced the fun for the players even further. The new patch 1.01.00 made it possible to use the ability even better for flying.
While the developers emphasize that they maintained balance, the update deliberately brought improvements for flying using Jump Thrust. The animation for Jump Thrust was improved, and a bug was fixed where the ability would not trigger when equipping a weapon other than a sword.
For balance, the developers increased the stamina consumption when using the skill repeatedly in succession. It now increases with each use to prevent infinite flights.
How are players reacting to the changes? While many players took advantage of the trick with Jump Thrust to fly in recent days, they seem to be convinced by the developers’ changes. They are pleased that the bug was not simply removed, but rather turned into a feature. However, there is also criticism regarding the new balancing.
Players are commenting on this on Reddit:
- Cuttlefishophile: “Incredible. They not only let us keep it, they gave us actual animations for it? Sure, they nerfed it a bit, but it was a buggy experience that kind of broke the game’s movement, but THEY LET US KEEP IT AND GAVE IT ANIMATIONS! I can’t express how COOL that is for a development team to do. Absolutely impressed.”
- Trevleblanc12: “No way… this ability will DEFINITELY be the new Force Punch for flying”
- himothyhimhimslf: “No, they nerfed it into the ground. You could literally fly over massive distances before. I don’t understand why developers do things like this in single-player games. It doesn’t hurt anyone and was interesting tech.”
