We show you how to get Lunas Howl – one of the best hand cannons for the Crucible in Destiny 2.
In Season 4 of Destiny 2, there are now new weapons that can be obtained exclusively through PvP. However, the effort is definitely worth it, as these are some of the best weapons for Guardian duels in the Crucible. This includes Lunas Howl.
Lunas Howl – The PvP Monster

What is Lunas Howl? Lunas Howl is a legendary hand cannon. It is part of the hand cannon archetype with precision frame – this means the weapon fires quickly and with high precision. Its rate of fire is 180. Additionally, it has top stability.

What makes Lunas Howl so special? The remarkable thing about Lunas Howl is its special perk “Magnificent Howl.” With this perk, two rapidly consecutive precision shots grant bonus damage for a short time until you get the next kill or miss a shot.

The damage bonus is enormous – the weapon then deals far more than double damage (about +125%). This is particularly noticeable in PvP. When you trigger the Magnificent Howl perk, none of your opponents in PvP survive the two critical hits, followed by a third – even if the third shot hits the body and the opponent’s resilience is at 10.
With the exception of “Not Forgotten”, no other fast-firing hand cannon with a rate of fire of 180 does this. With this perk, Lunas Howl (together with Not Forgotten) even has the lowest Time to Kill of all hand cannons in the Crucible. These values can only be surpassed in certain situations by some weapons like the Pikass.
In this video by nKuch, you get a good impression of the weapon:
What do players say about Lunas Howl? In short: Basically, nearly all owners of the weapon agree – it is one of the best, if not the best hand cannon for PvP. Anyone who enjoys playing hand cannons in the Crucible should definitely try their hand at the corresponding quest. Because the weapon is worth the effort.
How to get Lunas Howl
The way to the coveted piece: The weapon is exclusively available through a multi-part PvP quest in the competitive playlist of the Crucible.
- First, go to Lord Shaxx in the Tower. There you need to get the red ticket “Shock and Awe” from his quests. This is the first step to Lunas Howl
- Then you need to play 10 matches in the competitive PvP playlist. Completed matches count, you do not need to win.
- Then achieve 150 hand cannon kills in competitive mode
- Next, you need to reach 200 solar kills in competitive mode
- Then finish three Rumble matches
- Now you need to achieve 100 hand cannon precision kills in competitive mode
- Finally, you must reach the glory rank “Famous” – meaning four out of a total of six. The ranks are Guardian, Brave, Heroic, Famous, Mythic, and Legendary
- Once that’s done, you can return to Shaxx and receive Lunas Howl
The quest is achievable with enough time and dedication, even for non-PvP professionals. You have the entire Season 4 to do this. The biggest hurdle will likely be the Famous rank. Because with each defeat in the competitive playlist, you lose points in the glory rank system.
Are you chasing Lunas Howl or are you perhaps already its proud owner? Or does the weapon seem unreachable for you?
