What does a gold bar bring? If you find gold bars in Crimson Desert, you can take them to a bank and exchange them for 500 silver. This way, especially at the beginning, you can afford almost everything you need – whether it be equipment, food, resources, or mounts. It’s worth looking for them.
You can obtain them, for example, through pickpocketing, especially from nobles, or by finding them in houses and chests. You can recognize them when you’re searching for loot with your lantern and you spot a bar instead of a pouch. However, especially at the beginning, this is not without risk and can take some time.

Are there prerequisites? Yes, as you won’t be able to access the bars without committing theft, you need a mask that allows you to perform criminal acts. You can get it as loot from bandits or during one of the first bounty quests from the bulletin board. Once you have it, you can start your search.
Gold Bar Hideout in the Lion’s Mane Estate
Fortunately, you can find a gold bar shortly after the tutorial in the northwest of the town Hernand, specifically in the Lion’s Mane Estate. You’ll find it here:
How do you get into the estate? If you try to enter through “normal” means, the guards will keep you out. The easiest way to get in is to go to the eastern side of the estate and open a window there. Climb through, and once inside, no one will question what you’re doing there. You can take your time to explore.
Where can you find the bar? Go to the ground floor into the foyer and keep to the right when you look into the room from the front door. You should quickly find the fireplace. This is what it looks like:
Shine your lantern to find the bag hidden in the fireplace. Then equip your mask from the menu and select “Steal”. Be careful to wait for the alarm aura after stealing to avoid risking a bounty. Now you’ve secured the gold bar. Of course, you could just sell it, but that would only give you a fraction of what the bar is actually worth.
Exchange Gold Bar for Silver
To exchange the bar as efficiently as possible into usable coins, you should go to a bank. Conveniently, there is one nearby, specifically here southeast of the estate:
There, you can easily exchange it for 500 silver coins. Alternatively, if you already have enough by this point, you can buy a safe license for 100 silver and deposit your bar there. It will then accrue, so you can regularly collect returns.
At the beginning, it makes sense to initially use the silver to get settled in.
