When can I unlock the dragon? This is the Blackstar Dragon. You can only unlock this gigantic dragon starting from Chapter 11 during a specific main quest – before that, you have no chance to get the mount.

You should have completed the following things:
- Complete Chapters 1 – 10
- Reach the quest “Foreboding Shadow: Truth and Reality”
- Reach level 5 or higher in your stamina
- This is necessary to even be able to ride the dragon
In total, you can expect a time investment of about 50 hours, and that if you focus only on the main quest – expect more if you tackle side quests and other distractions.
To unlock the dragon, you need to follow these steps:
- Continue through Chapter 11 until you activate the quest “Foreboding Shadow: Truth and Reality”
- Follow the quest until it takes you to the place “Nest of Valor,” a location you also visited in Chapter 9
- Defeat the boss at the end of the quest
- When the boss’s health bar is empty, the dragon will appear in a cutscene to assist you in battle.
- Visit the place “Nest of Valor” again to call the dragon your own after another cutscene.
How do I summon the dragon? On PC, hold the “H” key, while on the controller, you need to hold down your D-Pad. This opens your mount window, and then select the dragon.
How should I best use the dragon? The dragon can be summoned at any time to assist you in battle. It is active for 15 minutes. After that, a cooldown period of 50 minutes will occur – both time indications refer to real-world minutes, not game world minutes.
The duration may sound like a significant drawback, but it has to be that way, as this is one of the most powerful mounts in the game. It can assist you in battle with various attacks like fireballs or its fire breath, heating things up for your enemies. Of course, you can also fly with it. So don’t use it for trivial quests and keep it ready when a tough battle is about to come.
