Leather is needed in Conan Exiles for many equipment items and can mean the difference between life and death. How to craft it, you can read here in the guide.
This is how you get regular leather: For leather, you need animal hides, which you can then process into leather at the tannery. You get the tannery when you reach level 10 and spend 3 knowledge points on “Craftsman Apprentice” and “Tanning”.
To create leather there, you need:
- 3 x animal hide
- 1 x bark
You obtain bark by striking trees with your pickaxe. Then place the materials in the tannery and you will receive leather as well as tar as a byproduct.
Tip: Unlock your skinning knife as quickly as possible to increase your yield, and remember, when skinning animals, to also remove their heads, as you can create leather from them as well.
This is how you obtain Reinforced Leather
How do you get better leather? At some point, you will reach the point where regular leather is no longer sufficient. However, you cannot obtain stronger leather by further processing regular leather.
Instead, you need thick hides, which you can get from large animals such as bears, elephants, or rhinos. Additionally, you can process the following items in the tannery into Reinforced Leather:
- Bear hide (2 leather)
- Moose King head (2 leather)
- Elephant hide (2 leather)
- Gray Rhino head (2 leather)
- Green Dragon head (5 leather)
- mammoth head (2 leather)
- Rhino hide (2 leather)
- Rhino King head (2 leather)
- Red Dragon head (5 leather)
- Black Rhino head (2 leather)
- White Rhino head (2 leather)
If you then throw everything into the tannery, you will receive Reinforced Leather, which you can then further process into better armor or together with 5 x leather, 2 x alchemical base substances, and 5 x oil into 1 x hardened leather.
