Many have been eagerly waiting for weeks, and now it is finally here. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare released the first official trailer for Warzone, its in-house battle royale mode. The release date is also set: Today (March 10), you can start playing.
Show the trailer now! After all the rumors, leaks, and half-truths, here finally is the official trailer for Call of Duty: Warzone:
Warzone release on March 10
When can you finally play Warzone? The creators of CoD stick to their approach since the launch of Modern Warfare and release the official trailer just before the actual launch:
- Trailer online on March 9
- The Call of Duty: Warzone will be released on March 10 on all platforms
- Start for MW owners: 4 PM with 15 – 22 GB update
- Free-to-Play launch: 8 PM with 80 – 100 GB download
Already Seasons 1 and 2 were only introduced shortly before their start, causing some uncertainty here in the editorial office about when the seasons would start. However, there is even a countdown in the main menu of Modern Warfare running now.
Similar now with the Battle Royale. There were already some hints on the morning of March 9 for an imminent release, and the tension rose. Twitch released a banner advertisement, which likely went online by mistake, and an “careless” YouTuber, who had already gotten a glimpse of Warzone, showed a gameplay video likely a day early.
What can be seen in the trailer? The one-and-a-half-minute trailer is full of action and confirms a lot that was already known beforehand.
- Free-to-Play – A few hours after the release for MW owners, Warzone starts as F2P
- Huge map – Verdansk and surrounding areas with over 300 Points of Interest
- 150-player Battle Royale
- 2 game modes – Battle Royale and Plunder mode
- Crossplay – As in the normal MW multiplayer, PC, PS4, and Xbox One can play together
Otherwise, the highly anticipated video shows many crazy scenes and also demonstrates how the CoD-BR wants to be perceived:
- Bigger
- Crazier
- Free-er
As a big, crazy free-to-play competitor for the established battle royales. The battle has begun.
What else can I expect from Warzone? In a blog post, Activision reveals more details about the new Warzone mode. You will likely be able to start as triads at launch, and there are 5 different types of vehicles.
- 5 vehicles – Smaller and larger cars for driving and a helicopter for flying.
- Plunder mode – Get money from points on the map or steal it from other players to complete contracts and win with the most cash at the end.
- Gulag respawn – Fight your way back into the game with a duel.
- Contracts – On the map, you can find tasks that give you advantages once completed.
- Buy stations – Here you can exchange in-game cash for powerful items, like killstreaks.
- Trios – At the launch of Warzone, you can start with two friends – if it actually comes to the launch of the game
What else is happening in CoD MW? Although the battle royale will likely attract the most attention from many players, the traditional multiplayer remains interesting. Currently, there are, for instance, problems with XP collection and you should probably avoid heavy challenges.
Players also recently discussed intensely whether too much realism can harm a shooter like CoD and how the crazy tracer bullets fit into this picture or camper-hating god-mode hackers.
But for many CoD players, the battle royale remains the most important thing right now. Are you checking it out right away tomorrow? The gulag in Warzone brings a really cool new idea to the BR genre:
