All Multiplayer Modes in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
In addition to tried-and-true formats in 6vs6 like Team Deathmatch, Modern Warfare 2019 also features some brand-new modes like Gunfight or Ground War.
The selection in multiplayer: Once you select multiplayer from the main menu of the game, you’ll initially be presented with various playlists to choose from. But what’s included where?
Fast Play
What is Fast Play? The Fast Play playlist includes 5 selected, mostly classic game modes that you may already know from numerous predecessors of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.
These rotate randomly and offer players a varied mix of different formats.
These include:
- Team Deathmatch
- Domination
- Search and Destroy
- Headquarters
- Kill Confirmed
- and Cyber Attack
Who should check out Fast Play? Those who want to jump into the game quickly and primarily focus on variety will find themselves well accommodated here. There is something for everyone, and if you just want fast action without favoring a specific mode, you can’t go wrong with Fast Play.
By the way, if you want to limit the selection of modes in Fast Play, that’s also possible. To the right of the Fast Play button, there is a filter option where you can select your preferences. Hardcore modes can also be selected there if you change the chosen category.
Team Deathmatch
What makes Team Deathmatch special? Team Deathmatch is arguably one of the most played modes overall. The rules are quite simple:
- Two teams of up to 6 (or 10) players compete against each other
- The team that either scores 75 points first or has the most points after 10 minutes wins.
Who should check out Team Deathmatch? Those who prefer team play but just want to focus on kills without worrying about other objectives will feel right at home here. Friends of straightforward action between two teams will have a great time.
Cyber Attack
What makes Cyber Attack special? This is a mode reminiscent of Counter Strike.
The goal is to collect an EMP device in short rounds of 3 minutes each and place it near the enemy data center. The other team must defuse this “bomb”. The team that wins the most rounds within 5 maximum rounds wins the match.
There are no respawns, but you can revive fallen comrades.
Who should check out Cyber Attack? If you enjoyed defusing bombs in Counter Strike, you’ll likely feel right at home here. Those looking for fast, intense, and tactical battles with a mission objective in focus will also be well-suited here.
Domination
What makes Domination special? As the name suggests, two teams fight for control of specific zones or points that need to be captured and defended. Captured control points earn points for the holding team every few seconds. There are unlimited respawns and no time limit. The team that first reaches 200 points from the captured zones wins.
Who should check out Domination? Domination strongly emphasizes team play and tactics, so it doesn’t primarily focus on kills. If you enjoy objective-based modes, you should definitely try Domination.
Search and Destroy
What makes Search and Destroy special? In short and intense battles of 2 minutes per round and without respawns, 2 teams take turns defending and eliminating targets. The team that wins the most rounds out of a maximum of 6 rounds wins the match.
Who should check out Search and Destroy? If you enjoy quick action combined with tactical approaches, you should definitely check this out. The short round times force you to act, but if you rush in blindly, you’ve essentially already lost.
Headquarters
What makes Headquarters special? The goal is to capture the namesake headquarters. Once achieved, holding this point earns points. However, respawns are disabled for the holding team.
The other team must capture the headquarters from the occupiers and has unlimited respawns available. Once captured, a new HQ appears, and it all starts again. Play lasts 5 minutes or until one team collects 200 points.
Who should check out Headquarters? Those who enjoy intense, ruthless combat for a crucial point will find themselves well served here. On one hand, you can take cover and defend against endless waves of enemies. On the other hand, it’s crucial to quickly eliminate the occupiers through a clever assault and secure the HQ. Quick action and good coordination are of utmost importance here.
