2022 brings the next installment of the shooter series with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. A new teaser trailer has now been released – and even caught the attention of Steam.
Is there a Steam release for CoD: MW 2? It’s not one hundred percent certain yet, but there is a new hint that the series could be returning to Steam.
CoD: MW 2 released a new teaser that has been well received by many fans and was even shared on Steam via Twitter. The official Twitter account on Steam simply reposted the new trailer with a big eye emoji.
This fits with the recent rumors that CoD: Modern Warfare 2 might be the first Call of Duty to appear on Steam in a long time.
The last Call of Duty on Steam was “WWII” from 2017. A return would be overdue.
More info shouldn’t take too long to arrive: The trailer explains that the official reveal of the game will take place on June 8.
By then, it should be clear whether MW 2 will be released on Steam.
New teaser captivates players with a dark atmosphere
This is the teaser: The video that Steam reacted to is just one minute long but is already receiving a lot of positive feedback from CoD fans.
Shown is Taskforce 141, which will take the lead role in the new game. Captain Price and his team are in a dark transport vehicle heading towards the battlefield – accompanied by heavy, emotional music.
Here’s how it looks:
Only towards the end does the music swell – precisely when the light breaks through the open doors of the transport vehicle and the team heads into battle.
In the comments, the brief but atmospheric video is well received:
- “I loved the campaign of the first game. I have a feeling this game will be even better,” says one user (via YouTube).
- “This will be the dark and moody experience we’ve come to know and love,” agrees another fan (via YouTube).
- “Just seeing the team got me excited again, and I’ve been skeptical about CoD for years” (via YouTube).
What is already known about MW 2? So far, there is little information about the game. What is certain is that the game will be a sequel to the 2019 reboot.
It will focus on familiar characters Simon “Ghost” Riley, Captain John Price, Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, John “Soap” MacTavish, and newcomer Alejandro Vargas.
The game is set to be released on October 28, 2022. Until then, there will certainly be plenty of rumors, but also official information coming together. A complete overview of all leaks, rumors, and facts about CoD: Modern Warfare 2 can be found here.
