Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 – The Best Builds for Lune

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Lune holding journal titel title 1280x720

How to best play Lune, the powerful sorceress in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, we will show you through some strong builds.

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you have an almost infinite variety of options to equip your characters. However, such freedom also carries the risk of being overwhelmed and choosing combinations that simply do not work.

Therefore, we would like to present to you two particularly strong builds for Lune. One for the early game and one for the endgame.

Lune Build in the Early Game – Lots of Lightning

In the early game, the options are still limited, but you can get a lot out of the sorceress Lune here. Keep in mind that you do not necessarily need all components for this build, as it also works well without all Pictos.

Weapon: Deminerim

The weapon Denerim reduces the cost of your lightning abilities by 1 AP starting at level 4, allowing you to spam many abilities. Perfect for beginners.

Attributes

Luck and strength, but the scaling of the weapon is not very relevant at the beginning of the game. Choose what you like.

Abilities

  • Electrify
  • Wildfire
  • Immolation
  • Rockslide
  • Lightning Dance
  • Thunderfall

Lumina

The following Pictos are a solid choice. You can replace a few at your discretion if you are missing some. Critical Burn is very important for your damage.

  • Critical Burn: 25 % increased crit chance against burning enemies.
  • Dead Energy II: +3 AP when you defeat an enemy.
  • Augmented Counter: 25 % increased damage when countering.
  • Energising Start I: +1 AP at the beginning of combat.
  • Energising Start II: +1 AP at the beginning of combat.

Combat Guide

At the start, apply burning to all enemies, either with Wildfire (for groups) or with Immolation (for single targets). Then you can spam Electrify to generate AP and deal damage. Once you have collected enough AP, simply decide whether you want to break the opponents with Rockslide or deal extremely high damage directly with Lightning Dance.

This sequence should quickly turn the majority of enemies in the early game into dust.

Devastating Gradient Attacks – Lune in the Endgame

The second build is particularly strong in the endgame. You need to have already unlocked Gradient attacks and some strong Lumina. The build is thus helpful only in Act 3 but may work even earlier in “New Game+”.

Keep in mind that you must have had all conversations with Lune in the camp to possess her final gradient attack “Heaven’s Break”. The build comes from YouTuber Fervor Gaming and has proven to be very successful in our tests – indeed so successful that it trivialized many battles.

Weapon: Saperim

Saperim is a weapon with the lightning element that brings powerful bonuses for gradient attacks. At level 20, your gradient attacks and gradient counters deal 50 % more damage.

Attributes

Invest all points in defense, then in luck, and finally in strength. Defense and luck scale very well with the weapon and increase your attack power more than pure strength.

Abilities

  • Healing Light

This single ability is used to spend AP and generate light pigments. It is not important that you actually heal a character with it. It is merely about the light pigments that can be generated so easily.

Lumina

The following Pictos are essential for the build to work. If you are missing Pictos, the result will be correspondingly weaker:

  • Painted Power: The damage limit of 9,999 is lifted.
  • Cheater: You always play 2x in a row.
  • Augmented First Strike: 50 % additional damage on the first hit. Once per fight.
  • Greater Powerful: Powerful is +15 % stronger.
  • Auto Powerful: You immediately receive Powerful at the start of combat.
  • Warming Up: 5 % additional damage per turn, stackable up to 5 times.
  • Auto Death: You die at the start of the combat.
  • Survivor: You survive lethal damage once per combat with 1 HP.
  • Gradient Fighter: Gradient attacks deal 25 % more damage.
  • Glass Canon: You deal 25 % more damage but also take 25 % more damage.
  • At Death’s Door: You deal 50 % more damage when your HP is below 10 %.

A list of all Pictos for the maximum effect can be found here:

Lune Gradient Power Luminas

For the build to work, you should also have Verso in the team. Equip him with the ability Phantom Stars. Give him all the Pictos with “Charging” in the name that offer a bonus to the gradient bar.

It is also important to have “Auto Death” and “Breaking Death,” as this immediately fills the enemies’ break bar, and with “Second Chance,” Verso is immediately revived. “Cheater” is also helpful. Verso is primarily used to fill the break and gradient bars.

As the final companion, take Sciel. For Sciel, use the same Pictos as for Verso, but the ability “Fate’s Fury.” This increases the damage of the chosen ally in their next turn by 100 %.

Combat Guide

At the start of combat, Verso and Sciel automatically die. This fills the break bar of all enemies. If it is Lune’s turn, use Healing Light on allies with her. Once it is Verso’s turn, ensure he has 9 AP. In his next turn (thanks to Cheater immediately), use “Phantom Stars” to break all enemies and fill a large amount of the gradient bar.

Then use Sciel’s “Fate’s Fury” on Lune and with Sciel’s second turn “Intervention,” so that Lune can act immediately.

If everything has gone correctly, Lune now has 3 filled gradient bars and can use “Heaven’s Break.” The attack can deal up to 400,000,000 damage to all enemies, which basically pulverizes every enemy in the game instantly. Even the secret final boss of the game has been defeated more than 8 times with it. Other builds were even too powerful for the developers. Because it was possible to deal several billion damage with a single ability.
