Next week, Zane, Amara, Moze, and FL4K will receive new skills in Borderlands 3. What do the new skill trees offer?
When is the DLC coming out? The new “Designers Cut” DLC will be released on Tuesday, November 10, as part of the new Season Pass 2. It brings a lot of content even before the Borderlands 3 launch on NextGen.
What’s included in the DLC? For one, the Designers Cut includes the new mode “Arms Race” (or in English: Plüller-Parade). This corresponds to a roguelike mode that throws you into the Stormblind Complex, where you must quickly grab equipment to survive.
But the new mode isn’t all that’s included in the new Season Pass. The Designers Cut also brings new skill trees for your Vault Hunters, which have been announced for a long time and are finally coming.
In the trailer above, you can see the skills in action – and below we will take a closer look at the trees.
Zane, the Pro
Here’s what’s included in Zane’s new skills: The Agent has acquired a fancy new toy – a shoulder cannon. The nice thing is that since Zane can always equip two skills, you will not miss out on the clone, the drone, or the shield – depending on what you like the most.

The advantage of the cannon is that Zane has previously made good use of buffs that are active during the triggered action skills. After all, all his skills are long-term active. However, the so-called MNTIS cannon only shoots briefly and thus triggers effects more often that occur at the beginning and end of an action skill.
Furthermore, you can unlock a grappling hook for the cannon that pulls enemies in. This way, you can now also go for melee damage, which hasn’t really been Zane’s thing before. Additional skills that cause more damage and speed are also included.
Moze gets a new pet
Here’s what’s included in Moze’s new skills: Moze is primarily known for jumping into her fancy mech and shooting everything to bits from there. With the new skill tree, she gets the action skill “Iron Cub” as well. This is a smaller version of Iron Bear, which now fights alongside Moze and wreaks havoc on enemies. Basically, it’s a bit like Zane’s clone.
The advantage is that you can fight well outside of Iron Bear, but still gain action skill bonuses from buffs and abilities. Additionally, the new “Mother Bear” tree is fully focused on fire damage. So, for example, you get more health from igniting enemies, or you can extend the duration of Iron Bear or Iron Cub.
Amara plays volleyball
Here’s what’s included in Amara’s new skills: Amara gets a cool new ability called “Phaseflare”. This is an energy ball that can be shot directly in the faces of enemies. The catch: If Amara strikes the ball, it gets even stronger and deals more damage to enemies. If you need high damage values, this ability should be perfect.
Additionally, Amara gains the ability to convert her elemental damage into cryo and simultaneously has the ability to temporarily ignore the elemental resistances of enemies. This way, you can deal plenty of elemental damage, no matter who or what you are fighting against.
FL4K lets loose the bot
Here’s what’s included in FL4K’s new skills: In terms of abilities, FL4K learns a new trick called “Gravitational Trap”. This small tool pulls your enemies together and gives you the opportunity to line up many enemies for a shot. Alternatively, you can also send your pets after them.
Speaking of pets: The Beastmaster now also has a Loader Bot in his repertoire. And this bot can make use of rockets, shotguns, or sniper rifles – depending on how you distribute your skills. And it, too, will be happy about easily hit targets thanks to the Gravitational Trap.
Furthermore, FL4K gets a lot of skills in the new skill tree that revolve around his shield capacity, making him noticeably more resilient. And since FL4K is a good Beastmaster, he can also equip his pets with shields.
What’s next for Borderlands? Even in the future, Borderlands 3 will continue to receive more content – and it will be playable on the new consoles from the start. Here you can find out what’s next for Borderlands 3.
