AMD has released a comprehensive update for older graphics cards. You can now also benefit from FSR 4.1 with cards from the RX 7000 series. And the first users are already reporting significant performance increases in games.
AMD distributed an update a few days ago, thanks to which you can now use FSR 4.1 on older AMD graphics cards from the RX 7000 series as well. It’s important to note that the still older 6000 models are not yet supported.
Previously, FSR 4 had the limitation that the upscaling tool could only be used with the current cards from the 9000 series. However, AMD has now adjusted that. And the first users are already reporting significant performance increases in games, including Cyberpunk 2077. Cyberpunk 2077 is still considered a popular benchmark tool due to its high system requirements.
FSR 4.1 significantly improves FPS on old AMD graphics cards
The data is particularly impressive, provided by a user on Reddit. According to his shared screenshots, he achieved 24 FPS in Cyberpunk 2077 at 4K resolution with his Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
With FSR 4.1 enabled, the user reported an almost doubled performance increase at the same settings. At 4K RT Ultra, FSR 4.1 delivers its effect in the ‘Balanced’ preset and averages nearly 50 FPS in the game. The advantage of ‘Balanced’ is also that the image quality is hardly affected. If the user switches to ‘Performance’ mode, the frame rate even increases to over 60 FPS in 4K RT Ultra, according to the user.
