In Aion 2 there are countless systems and content that affect the strength of your character. Here we introduce you to the pets and why they are important for your character progression
Why are Pets important? Your account-wide collection of Pets is available to all characters on your server and provides several advantages:
- Pets collect your loot, and you can also use the animal companions as mounts.
- All Pets in your collection, whether you are actively using them or not, grant you useful possession effects when they reach their maximum level.
- After reaching the maximum level of a Pet, another progression system opens up for you: the Genus Insight (more information on this below).
Where do I get new Pets? In principle, all monsters from Aion 2 can be available to you as Pets. You just need to defeat them often enough to obtain a sufficient number of their corresponding souls for unlocking.
Note that there are Pets for 5 species:
- Cogni
- Fera
- Natura
- Varlan
- Special
How do I level my Pets? You can bring all your Pets to maximum level 3 at the start of the global version of Aion (level 5 is already available in Korea and Taiwan). You gain level-ups by defeating the respective monsters in the open world and thus collecting more souls.
What is Genus Insight? This is the second tab in your Pet overview. It hides an important progression system that promises further value bonuses for your character. Note that each Pet species has its own Genus Insight area.
You can enhance your Genus Insight by investing colored crystals:
- Cogni = blue crystals
- Fera = red crystals
- Natura = green crystals
- Varlan = yellow crystals
- Special = light blue crystals
These crystals are obtained when you defeat monsters in the open world that have already reached maximum level in your Pet collection. With the respective crystals and some Kinah, you can analyze effects for the selected area of Genus Insight and level it up. With each level-up, you unlock a new slot for an insight effect. Since level 10 is the maximum, you can unlock ten effects for each Pet species.
WARNING! With each analysis, you randomize all already unlocked effects of the respective insight area anew. However, you can lock particularly valuable value bonuses for you. Just note that the costs for the next analysis increase significantly with each locked value. It is best to wait until you have brought the respective area to maximum level.
What else should I consider? There is also a rainbow-colored type of crystal that you can use as a joker for all Pet species. Since you can farm the crystals for Cogni, Fera, Natura, and Varlan relatively easily, you should only invest them in the Special area. These are Pets from special sources that you cannot find and farm in the open world.
The corresponding light blue (and all other) crystals can otherwise only be obtained through the daily repeatable Duty Quests and hidden cubes.
