What would Batman be without his friends and allies supporting him in the fight against evil? One of the oldest had to say goodbye in the comics some time ago, but will probably soon have a replacement.
Attention spoiler: We disclose details about the fate of a character from the comic Batman #77 Volume 3, as well as an upcoming issue in the article.
Which ally is it about? Alfred Pennyworth is the faithful butler in the Wayne household. And this has been the case since the comic Batman #16 from 1943. Thus, Alfred has been a part of the Batman universe for 83 years.
However, within the main series of the comics, he had to pass away a few years ago: In 2019, the volume Batman #77 Volume 3 was released, in which Alfred is killed by Bane.
This represented an important moment in Batman’s history: After all, Alfred has almost always been by Bruce Wayne’s side, appearing in numerous comics and almost all of the Bat’s films.
As the main series of comics now announces, Alfred may soon find a suitable replacement. However, the character is currently very mysterious.

A figure from the beyond?
What kind of figure is this? In the upcoming issue 12 of the current comic series, a new character will be introduced, who currently has no name.
Two cover artworks show a woman with blonde hair wearing a suit. In one picture, she holds a tray, as a butler would, with Batman’s mask on it. Basically nothing unusual.
The second artwork raises more questions: The woman is casually sitting on a large tray, which is being held by a giant hand. It is unclear whose hand it is, but the suit, white gloves, and the cloth over the forearm suggest it points to Alfred.
Could the new figure have been sent to Batman by the deceased butler himself? Does she come from the beyond and is not a real person at all? The official description of the comic gives hints on this:
Six of the deadliest killers in the world have simultaneously appeared in Gotham City – but who hired them, and who is the target? It can’t possibly be Batman… As the Caped Crusader hurries to uncover who set this deadly plan in motion, the deceased Alfred Pennyworth sends the Bat-family a gift from the beyond by introducing them to a brilliant new ally – just at a time when they need one the most.
Whether the potential new butler has special abilities is still uncertain. Similarly, how big the role in the story will be.
