In GTA 5 had to confront its character, but in GTA 6, an actor no longer got the chance to … or at all for any role.
Which actor is being talked about? It is the actor Robert Bauge, who played the antagonist and FIB agent Steve Haines in GTA 5.
After his work in the predecessor, he also wanted to be a part of GTA 6, no matter what role he could contribute to. But Rockstar was hesitant.
“That was pretty demotivating”
Why didn’t the actor get a role? Bauge doesn’t have an explanation, as he explained in a conversation with Anderson Burak that they had on Instagram (Source: X).
There, the actor informed him that he auditioned for over 60 roles, some big, some small, he didn’t care. He simply wanted to be part of the game.
However, he never received any feedback.
“Honestly, that was pretty demotivating,” Bauge admits, “At some point, I even wondered if there might be an unofficial guideline not to hire the same actors over and over again. Because being rejected so often and not even being selected for a small role didn’t make sense to me.”
How does the actor deal with Rockstar’s ghosting? Bauge says that he feels a bit disappointed and also hurt. It feels like he fell in love with someone who then suddenly left him.
Upon hearing from Burak that their joint interview is going viral, Bauge feels the need to comment on the topic again:
I am sorry for calling out Rockstar publicly when I talk about how many auditions I have had, but the truth is simply the truth.
Hey, in the end, an actor’s life is all about rejections. You just need a success sometimes.
