World of Warcraft Classic will soon release its next expansion. However, some streamers on Twitch prefer to play other games despite the enticing offer.
The Classic version of World of Warcraft will soon release its next expansion, Mists of Pandaria. It is set to launch on July 21, 2025.
To generate buzz for the expansion launch, Blizzard offered a streamer $5,000 to talk about WoW in his streams. However, he graciously declined – as he prefers to play another game.

Which streamer is it? The streamer who declined the offer is Savix. He has over 300,000 followers on Twitch, where he calls himself “the MMO enthusiast”.
Why did he decline the offer? As Savix reported in a stream on Twitch, he was offered $5,000 by Blizzard, the studio behind World of Warcraft, to play WoW on stream. He states that he turned down this offer because he currently prefers to play Oldschool RuneScape.
In the clip on Twitch, he says: “I turned down a $5,000 offer from Blizzard to play this game because I really enjoy this game”.
The streamer is currently playing in Oldschool RuneScape in what is known as Ironman mode. This is a mode with increased difficulty where players cannot trade or form groups. He has to completely navigate the game alone and without help from other players.
How does the community react? A post on Reddit featuring the clip explains that Runescape has thus won the “MMO war”. This refers to a friendly rivalry between the two MMORPGs.
The mere fact that both MMORPGs can be played so differently shows that this “war” should be understood with a sense of humor.
The next expansion of World of Warcraft Classic, Mists of Pandaria, is on the horizon. Like all expansions of Classic, this is an expansion that was previously released in the main game. And it wasn’t well received by everyone at the time: There was a time when (almost) all WoW players hated the Pandaren.
