What kind of ring is this? The Ring of Lightning is hidden in a fortress in Pailune and grants its wearer superhuman powers. Specifically, the item description promises:
A ring that harbors the sealed power of an ancient giant. It temporarily envelops the wearer in lightning energy and unleashes an explosive force that exceeds any human measure. In this moment, the crackling electrical surges turn everything they touch to ash.
How does the ring work? When it rains, the ring charges its power. By pressing B (keyboard) or LT + RT (gamepad), you trigger the effect. It takes 2 minutes to fully charge the ring. Then, you will cause extremely high area lightning damage around you for a short time. After activation, you must wait another 2 minutes until the ring is fully charged again.
Note that you must not only equip the ring in one of the ring slots. You also need to select the effect of the ring through the ring menu, where you also choose your buff food. Only then will the effect be available to you. Also important: once the rain stops, the previously collected ring energy disappears. This is definitely not a fair-weather item.

Ring of Lightning: Location and Synergy
Where do I find the ring? You need to go to the northwest of Pailune, to the Whispering Leaf Fortress, which lies to the west of the Wilver Wolf Mountain. In this fortress, there is an abandoned side area with a grave. If you hit the gravestone with your power fist, it will fall over and reveal a hidden access. There, you will find a simple puzzle that rewards you with the Ring of Lightning.
Is there a synergy with the ring? There is indeed an item in Pywel that allows you to unleash a rain shower at the push of a button: the Rainstorm Necklace. When you activate this – similar to the ring – it takes about 90 seconds before it starts raining in your region for about 5 minutes.
During the effect of the necklace, you can reliably activate the Ring of Lightning twice. After that, it takes 3 in-game hours to reset the necklace’s cooldown.
Where do I find the Rainstorm Necklace? Also in Pailune, exactly through the quest through which you also earn the new legendary mount Icewind Mountain Goat. So you need to complete many of the local faction quests until you unlock the Longleaf tribe and receive the quest “Frost Drowned in Mud”.
