In Path of Exile 2 there have been ongoing performance issues since the Early Access launch. Some players are experiencing stuttering in the ARPG or encountering lags. One player claims to have found the solution to the problem.
What is the problem? Path of Exile 2 has not yet been released in its final form, as it is still in Early Access on Steam. Since it became available there, individual users have repeatedly complained about FPS drops, stuttering, freezes, and other performance problems.
While the developers continue to implement improvements with each patch, one player has now found a trick that can generate significantly more frames per second. All it takes is a simple setting.

Simple setting, great results
What kind of trick is it? In order to achieve more frames per second in Path of Exile 2, a setting in the game’s options is said to help. On Reddit, the player Super-Persimmon233 explains that he has achieved much better performance since he set the channel number in the audio settings from “High” to “Medium”.
Other users are trying out the trick and are also achieving good results. For example, Reddit user swordfish1221 reports: “From 35 FPS to over 140 FPS – thank you very much!”.
The user CallSignVip3r also gives tips for improving performance:
Set channel number too low and change shader cache in the Nvidia control panel to 100 GB. Now it’s running super smoothly for me. I previously had problems with frame rate and high input delay.
Edit: Also delete the contents of the Poe2 shader cache folder if you haven’t done so since the new patch.
Is the trick new? As Reddit user ShelbyGT350R1 explains, the trick isn’t really new. Something similar is said to have worked in Path of Exile (1) as well. The user explains that players there disabled all sounds in the game files to achieve better performance.
He suspects that this might also be possible in Path of Exile 2. The bug causing performance issues due to sounds in the game is therefore not entirely unknown.
