For a long time, fans of Total War: Warhammer 3, the biggest strategy game in the Warhammer universe on Steam, had to wait for a very specific trailer. Now it is here and even surprises with an unexpected twist.
Which trailer is it exactly? It is the trailer for Omens of Destruction, a new DLC for Total War: Warhammer 3. The game set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe combines turn-based grand strategy and massive real-time battles. With the “Immortal Empires” campaign, the game now covers almost all factions of the Warhammer Fantasy world.
What exactly is included in the DLC and when it will be released was largely unknown until the trailer. After some extremely interesting dev talks and a very long wait, fans can mark December 12, 2024, in their calendars.

New Legendary Characters and Giant Monsters
What’s included in the DLC? It features a new legendary commander each for the Daemons of Khorne, the Ogre Kingdoms, and the Greenskins, meaning Orcs & Goblins. They serve as faction leaders, are immortal, and bring their own gameplay mechanics with them.
In addition to the legendary commanders, there are also some new legendary heroes, notable characters from the lore. They are also immortal but cannot lead armies. New units and giant monsters like the Slaughter Beast for Khorne or the Colossal Squig for the Greenskins join them.
Overall, the DLC includes the following new content:
- 3 legendary commanders and 3 generic ones
- 4 legendary heroes and 2 generic ones
- 15 new units and monsters
- New faction mechanics for each of the three legendary commanders
New DLC Lord Brings Unexpected Twist
What surprised the fans? Although legendary characters are typically immortal, one of them has met an unfortunate fate in the trailer. This is due to Skulltaker, who joins the ranks of Khorne with the DLC. The champion seeks the strongest warriors on the battlefields to separate them from their skulls and attach them to his cloak.
To give Skulltaker a glorious entrance, another character had to face the consequences in the trailer: Alberic de Bordeleaux, a legendary commander of the Bretons. He has been in the game since part 1 and is the first legendary commander to die in a trailer – something the community is taking with humor.
That it’s Alberic who meets this fate is doubly unfair. He is the only legendary commander in the game who looks and sounds rather generic. Without his trident, one could hardly distinguish him from an ordinary Breton lord.
Some fans are already speculating that the developers want to rework Alberic in the future and that his beheading in the trailer was the “subtle” announcement for it. Another fan jokes on Reddit that this is already his new look and he will now roam around headless.
