Strength 4: Solo, Coop, PvP – Everything Can, Nothing Must
Honor of Kings: World strongly reminds us of Where Winds Meet in its structure. A noticeable focus of many contents is on the single-player experience. However, you can join friends at any time to experience the story together or tackle challenges in coop.
The progress earned together counts for all group participants’ worlds (for the story, it is important that everyone is at the same point).
Unlike in Where Winds Meet, there is no extra multiplayer mode in HoK:W. Instead, you mostly see the characters of other players as phantoms. They are not really in your version of the world outside certain multiplayer hubs and are thus not competitors for resource points and quest enemies.
You can interact with the phantoms, chat, trade, or join together in groups. As the number of displayed phantoms is limited, Honor of Kings: World never has the “massively” feel of proper MMORPGs. However, social features like card games or housing visits can create an MMO feeling.
The range of options is complemented by instantiated PvP modes, where you can compete against other players and climb leaderboards. This area is completely optional. If you are not interested in PvP, you will never encounter it in the open world.
