What is it about? Hitomi is an ordinary student. One day, a beam of light suddenly appears, from which the young warrior Van Fanel and a dragon fall. They fight against each other, while Hitomi is swept along with Van back into his world Gaea. Van is the king of Fanelia on this planet.
However, his kingdom is in conflict with the technologically advanced Taibach Empire. Hitomi, Van, and the knight Allen Schezwar try to end the war. Vans special mechanical armor plays a significant role in this.
Why is the anime not for kids? There are several themes in the anime that make the series appealing to an older audience:
- The villains are not simply evil. The antagonist Dunkirk wants to calculate fate to prevent suffering. He also turns out to be a famous historical figure, which children likely can’t relate to.
- The depiction of war is not glorified. Many people die, cities burn, and the characters suffer from traumatic experiences.
- There is a complex love triangle among the protagonists, marked by jealousy and love.
