What is it about? High school student Mari wants to experience something extraordinary in her youth but lacks the courage to do so. One day she meets Shirase, who is saving up a lot of money to travel to Antarctica.
The Antarctic is the place where her mother went missing years ago. Together with 2 other girls, they achieve the impossible: they join an expedition to the South Pole.
Why is the length perfect? You surely know the saying “The journey is the destination” and that’s exactly what this anime conveys. Episode 1 is basically the starting point and Episode 13 is the destination. In between, we see the preparation, the journey, and the arrival of the girls. The emotional climax then occurs at the destination. After that, the journey is complete and the series forms a rounded story.
