Few beings in the history of Middle-earth have managed to defeat the villain Sauron. MeinMMO shows you who has accomplished the impossible. Even if it wasn't intended, Eru Ilúvatar once destroyed Sauron.
Eru Ilúvatar is the creator of everything that can be seen in the films, series, and works related to The Lord of the Rings. He has no problem defeating Sauron, but he usually does not interfere in events. However, he was responsible for the destruction of the island of Númenor.
In the year 3261 of the Second Age, Ar-Pharazôn (King of Númenor) set out with an army to Mordor to deal with Sauron and his minions. The king’s army was so large that Sauron’s allies deserted him. The villain knew he could not win, so he surrendered and was taken back to Númenor. This could also be seen as a defeat, but Sauron turned it to his advantage.
Sauron corrupted the inhabitants of the island, including the king, to whom he promised everything. He fed the spirit of Númenor’s inhabitants with hatred against the Valar, divine beings that descend from Eru. Sauron promised them immortality if they followed his master Melkor.
Fearing an attack and destruction by Ar-Pharazôn and his troops, the Valar turned to Eru Ilúvatar. The creator of all intervened and submerged the entire island of Númenor. In the process, Sauron’s physical body was completely destroyed. Unfortunately, his spirit survived, and he returned to Mordor.
As one can see, there were very few defeats for Sauron, hardly any in direct combat. The dark lord was able to wriggle out of many situations even after great losses and return.
