A 19-year-old decided to drop out of university after less than 2 years to pursue a different career. He is now an AI influencer and focuses on a specific target audience.
What kind of influencer is he? 19-year-old Maverick Maltin dropped out of his digital marketing studies because he wanted to take a different path, thanks to his interest in AI and the support of his parents: He aims to make AI more accessible to those who can find the technical aspects challenging.
He noticed from other similar content creators that they were overlooking a group with their content: people aged between 30 and 65. Therefore, he decided to make it more practical and accessible.
With this approach, he now earns a six-figure salary each month.
“Don’t reinvent the wheel.”
How did he achieve this success? AI has always interested the 19-year-old, and he enjoyed spending his time introducing the technology to his friends and family. In May 2025, he posted his first video on TikTok, which already reached a million views.
As Business Insider reports, he has always been interested in building something of his own, just like his parents have done several times. While his university friends took internships after their first year, he used the summer to plan his content strategy. He particularly focuses on how to use AI in daily life, such as selling items from the garage, but also on preparing for a job interview.
What does he base his content on? In this regard, Maltin takes a quite simple approach: “Don’t reinvent the wheel.”
He initially wanted to build his own audience and looked at which AI tricks were currently going viral. He thought to himself, “If this person just spoke faster and had a better hook.”
He then made a video on the same topic, utilized exactly those two changes – and it worked.
His parents, especially his father, supported the decision to completely leave university to focus on this path. The content creator is very grateful for that: “I am very lucky to have parents who were supportive when I left university.”
