Myth 10 – WoW and the Purified Ashbringer
Sources:
A well-known myth has also made its way into World of Warcraft, and that in the Classic version. It revolved around the Corrupted Ashbringer: This sword was something very special because it could speak to you and even trigger a special sequence in the Scarlet Monastery instance where normally hostile NPCs wouldn’t attack you.
For many players, it was clear: The sword could surely be cleansed or purified, you just had to do something specific. The wildest theories emerged around the cleansing of the sword, but none of them worked. There was nothing to cleanse the sword until Wrath of the Lich King was released. There, fans could cleanse the sword in a story sequence, but that had nothing to do with the original myth. In Classic, there was no official quest for it.
