Battlestate Games announced a release date for version 1.0 of Escape from Tarkov on April 18, 2025, and showed in a roadmap what to expect for the shooter in 2025.
What does Tarkov say about the 1.0 release? Battlestate Games, the development studio behind Escape from Tarkov, stated in a post on X that the extraction shooter will be released in version 1.0 later in 2025. This means the shooter will leave its beta phase, which started in 2017, after approximately 8 years.
While the developers did not provide an exact release date for version 1.0, they indicated with a roadmap that you can expect the full version at the earliest in the fall. In August 2025, patch 0.16.9.0 for the early access version of Escape from Tarkov is also set to be released. More detailed information about the release is expected to follow in June.
Tarkov reveals what to expect leading up to the release
What can you expect before the release? Escape from Tarkov is set to receive 4 major patches leading up to the full release, one per month: May, June, July, and August. These patches will bring a series of adjustments and improvements across various aspects of the game, such as:
- Optimization of the maps: Lighthouse, Shoreline, and Ground Zero
- Adjustments to AI behavior
- Improvements to the audio engine
- Season featuring summer weather
- Optimization and expansion of the Interchange map
- Various in-game events
- The ability to buy all items needed for a crafting recipe
- Improvements to the automatic sorting of the stash
A wipe that was expected in the meantime has not yet been announced until the full release of Escape from Tarkov.

Fans of release announcement surprised
What does the community say about the announcement? Essentially, there are three types of reactions from Escape from Tarkov players to the new announcements:
- Surprise that the 1.0 release was actually announced
- Joy over some of the shown adjustments and improvements coming before the release
- Criticism for the lack of announcements regarding other existing issues
On X, a surprised player commented, “1.0 release? Who are you?” Another player commented joyfully on Reddit: “There it is, 9 years in beta and 16 wipes later.” The Reddit user apparently has not just started playing the extraction shooter in beta but began back in the alpha phase in 2016.
However, some players on Reddit are critical as well and want to believe the release date only when they see the full version with their own eyes.
Will Tarkov come to Steam with 1.0? No, at least according to current information. A Steam release could follow after version 1.0, according to game director Nikita Buyanov, but he did not provide specific information about whether this will actually happen.
