You thought Mayhem 4 in Borderlands 3 was a challenge? Then you haven’t seen YouTuber “Senza” play the game with probably the most ridiculous controller of all time.
A glove against Borderlands 3: YouTuber “Senza” likes to take on challenges. For instance, he played Doom with the Guitar Hero controller, or Borderlands 3 without proper equipment. Now he found a new challenge: the Nintendo Power Glove.
If you don’t know it: The Power Glove is a controller in the shape of a glove that was developed in 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It became known pretty quickly for being quite poorly functioning. You can get a small impression in an old advertisement for this marvel of technology:
Can the Power Glove handle a game like Borderlands 3?
This is how the run went: YouTuber “Senza” was not deterred by the notorious uselessness of the glove and planned a complete Borderlands 3 run with it. The controller had to be modified to at least be compatible with the PC version of Borderlands 3: “The thing was designed for the NES, and it basically didn’t work there either,” explains the YouTuber in his video. So, not the best conditions.
Equipped with FL4K, a Flakker, and the lovingly renamed pet “Harold”, the glove YouTuber set off. You can see how that went in the video below. Caution: It contains both spoilers to the story and some pretty crude language.
In the end, he actually managed to complete the story. He relied primarily on the impact of his Flakker and the healing from Harold. But it was probably a struggle: “Without training, the run will take six months. With training, too,” jokes the YouTuber at the beginning.
However, during the course of the game, the enemies in Borderlands 3 repeatedly made it clear that the Power Glove might not be the perfect control unit for this game. Targeting proved to be rather difficult with the glove.
Especially Skywell-27 and the Katagawa Ball demanded everything from Senza: “My movements were unparalleled. It was like watching a race between a marathon runner and a piece of vegetables,” the YouTuber commented on his slight disadvantage compared to the enemies.
In the end, Senza completed the whole game. He needed a total of 64 hours and died 282 times – not counting revives.
Will he tackle the upcoming content with the glove as well? Probably not. However, there is still something to look forward to:
