Voice actress Tracy Wiles, who voiced the druid Jaheira in Baldur’s Gate 3, regularly streams the game on Twitch. However, when she uploaded one of those streams to YouTube, she was banned from the platform. What happened?
What kind of ban is this? On December 5, voice actress Tracy Wiles announced in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that her YouTube account had been suspended.
The reason for this was her second Twitch stream, in which she plays Baldur’s Gate 3 herself. She wanted to share what she described as a “completely chaotic” stream with everyone who couldn’t be there live, and uploaded the video to YouTube. But shortly after uploading, her account was restricted.
In this video you will learn which German Twitch streamers have already been dubbed for video games:
Was it just this one word that caused it?
In her post, Wiles speculates that a single word might be responsible for the ban. It concerns the term “sphincter”, which is translated into German as “Ringmuskel”. This is what the doors on the Nautiloid ship right at the beginning of the game are called, which remind one of a sphincter muscle.
In the announcement for the video, Wiles jokingly warned: “Caution – I say the word ‘Ringmuskel’ about 25 times”.
However, the real reason for the ban was not quite so funny. In response to a further post by the voice actress, YouTube replied on December 11:
“After careful examination, we have confirmed that your channel was suspended due to a violation of Google’s terms of service. While it does not violate YouTube’s monetization policies, it is linked to a Google account that has an issue.”
What does that mean? The exact issues are still not clear.
“Can you elaborate on that? I would like to be operational again. Can you tell me what I need to change?” Wiles now tries to follow up.
Despite the YouTube chaos, the Jaheira voice actress wants to remain active on Twitch. The next stream is planned for Sunday, December 17. Some past streams can also still be watched on her Twitch channel.
“Free Jaheira”
Among the various X posts, fans are showing support for the “Baldur’s Gate 3” voice actress and express their confusion over the inaccurate statements from YouTube.
- CorbynRed: “This is just weird. Can’t you contact Tracy and explain what the problem is?”
- AyfaTavi: “All I can do is wish you good luck. This is so strange!”
Under the hashtag “FreeJaheira”, fans are also trying to grab YouTube’s attention to resolve the issue. Some even take it with a bit of humor:
- Rubidiummoon: “I guess…congratulations on being the first BG3 actress banned on YouTube?”
- SaeviWren: “I hope YouTube unblocks your video so I can please hear you say ‘Ringmuskel’ 25 times.”
- Scorpio89v2: “Ironically… I can well imagine that Jaheira would definitely say/do things that would get her banned from most platforms.”
We hope that the difficulties with the YouTube channel will be resolved soon, and that we will see more from the Jaheira voice actress and her adventures in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Tracy Wiles is not the only “Baldur’s Gate 3” voice actress streaming the game. For example, Astarion voice actor Neil Newbon experienced some funny moments in the game:
